Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra (ICO) announces Joyful Solidarity featuring 2022 International Violin Competition of Indianapolis (IVCI) Gold Medalist Sirena Huang. Join the ICO and IVCI for a joyful evening of music on Saturday, February 1st, at 7:30pm, at the Schrott Center for the Arts (Butler University).
Presented in collaboration with Classical Music Indy (CMI), ICO will premiere Solidarity Symphony by Jorge Muñiz. His music is inspired by poetry from Pope Francis, Maya Angelou, Gwendolyn Brooks, and Langston Hughes. Living African American composer, Brian Raphael Nabors captures joy with Iubilo. 2022 IVCI Gold Medalist, Sirena Huang, brings you her favorite concerto, Beethoven’s Violin Concerto Op. 61 in D Major. Muñiz was recently selected as the commissioned composer for the CMI Artist Lab, an initiative aimed at strategically investing in new musical works and professional development to grow the local music economy, while serving as a catalyst to draw national attention and larger audiences. The ICO has partnered with CMI to present the premiere of Muñiz’s "Solidarity Symphony".
Tickets can be purchased online or through the ICO office at 317-940-9607 or info@icomusic.org. Complimentary hot chocolate, cupcakes, and beignets will be served. In celebration of Maestro Kraemer’s 10th Anniversary, ICO will continue offering free tickets to any performance for all students and children, when seats are reserved via phone or email, or requested at the door.
