ICO Presents 3 Free Parks Concerts

Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra (ICO) will present three free parks concerts, thanks to support from The National Bank of Indianapolis and The Penrod Society, in collaboration with Indy Parks on September 4th (Garfield Park), September 5th (Riverside Park), and September 6th (Holliday Park). ICO will perform classical favorites, Broadway hits, and feature local student performance organizations: The Global Prep Academy Bilingual Choir and Indianapolis Suzuki Academy.

On Wednesday, September 4th (7:30 pm), ICO will perform its first concert of the year at Garfield Park’s MacAllister Amphitheatre. The orchestra will be joined by students from the Indianapolis Suzuki Academy on stage for a side-by-side performance. Audiences can enjoy works by Chevalier, Rossini, and Schubert, plus a salute to Cole Porter (Night and Day) and Henry Mancini (The Pink Panther). We’ll also perform selections from Bernstein’s West Side Story plus an exciting medley of Broadway hits titled Curtain Up!

On Thursday, September 5th (7:30 pm), ICO will perform all the repertoire listed above, in addition to Filho’s Cidade Maravilhosa when Global Prep Academy students join us on stage for a side-by-side performance! We’ll also perform Barroso’s Brazil to commemorate the country of Brazil celebrating their independence in September.

On Friday, September 6th (7:00 pm), ICO will be joined by students from the Indianapolis Suzuki Academy once again for a side-by-side performance. Plus, audiences can enjoy a “yoga break” led by Invoke Yoga, set to Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. ICO will perform works by Rossini and Schubert, tributes to Cole Porter and Henry Mancini, selections from Bernstein’s West Side Story and more! Take a trip to Broadway with Curtain Up, a celebration of Broadway hits including There's No Business like Show Business; Phantom of the Opera; Don't Rain on My Parade; Everything's Coming Up Roses, and more.

Free reservations can be made online at icomusic.org HERE. While registration is not required, it is encouraged so we can share weather updates with you. More information can also be found on ICO social media, website, or by calling 317-940-9607.
